The Number of the Circassians in the Caucasus
According to the 2010 Russian Census, the number of Circassians
(Adiga and Abaza) in the three “Circassian” republics in the North Caucasus is
690,886.
Note: This number does not include the Circassians that live in the
Caucasus but outside the borders of these republics (in the Shapsugh Region, the
Krasnodar Region, the Stavropol Region, North Ossetia, Abkhazia, etc.), nor the
Circassians living in the other regions and cities of The Russian Federation.
It is thought that these groups easily exceed 100,000 in aggregate number. The
number of the Abkhaz in Abkhazia is estimated at 120-150 thousands.
